Retiring collection raised £133. Tea and
Coffee were served. |

Three course Sunday Lunch
and Raffle. 12.30 pm in Russell Street First School,
Stony Stratford. Tickets £10.00 each. Waitrose
provided the Gammon (main course) for free. Once
again a sellout and very enjoyable event with
lovely food which made a good profit for the fund
(£483 + £65 on the raffle). |

coffee were served. We had a band of about 15
and an audience of 40. |

- Parish Singers, SMSG Band, Handbells, Children's
choir and band (variety of music, secular and
sacred). Free entry, retiring collection for the
organ fund raised £208.21. Tea and coffee
were served. About 40 folk performed and there
was an audience of about 80. |

Tombola, Chutney, Crafts and good quality
secondhand baby equipment for sale in the Church
as part of the Christmas Fair was held
on Switch on of Christmas Lights Day in Stony
Stratford. Grand total raised £477.48. |

Three course
'Christmas' Sunday Lunch and Raffle. 12.30
pm in Russell Street First School, Stony Stratford.
Tickets £15.00 each as this was a special
Christmas version with crackers. Waitrose
provided the Turkey (main course) for free. Once
again a sellout and very enjoyable event with
lovely food which made a good profit for the fund
(£750 + £106.50 on the raffle). |
9 December (Sunday) |
7.30 pm Milton
Keynes Youth Choir conducted by David
Kirby-Ashmore sang a selection of Music for
Advent and other pieces in St Mary & St Giles
Church. Entrance was by programme (in advance
from organ fund group members or on the door),
£6.50 (adults), £4.50 (over 60s, students
and 5-15s), this very enjoyable concert raised
£215.60 after expenses. |

3.00 pm - 5.00 pm Parish Singers,
Handbells and SMSG Band played in Middleton
Hall, MK Shopping Centre. Total raised £148.41. |

coffee were served. About 55 in the audience and
15 in the band. |
16 March (Palm Sunday) |
6.00 pm, Lent Cantata
by the Parish Singers, with the Organ in St Mary
& St Giles Church. The Crucifixion
by John Stainer was performed as a devotional
piece (though not part of a service). It was
an opportunity to hear the organ play outside
of normal services and was not a fundraising event.

As part of this event, the Organ Fund

Spot" Tombola, a craft stand and
secondhand toys for sale and raised £370.70. |

ringers did a concert in Pottersbury URC
church for their funds. The Church very kindly
donated £75.00 to the organ fund as thanks. |

as usual in the Church for anyone wishing to make

Dance with music by St
Mary & St Giles Band, in St Mary & St
Giles Junior School Hall. Tickets were £4.00
each, including the tea and cakes. We also had
a raffle. This was a very successful, enjoyable
event, which raised £294! (55 dancers, 12
band members, several helpers serving tea)

I have hope in none other than
you, O God of Israel
We welcomed an audience of 320
people to a concert of exceptionally beautiful
and rarely performed music in which singers from
St Mary & St Giles Church, Quorum, Milton
Keynes Chorale, Andante and other choirs in Milton
Keynes sang Thomas Tallis’ 40 part motet
"Spem in Alium". The audience
was surrounded by 8 choirs of 5 voices each in
the Church balcony singing this 40 part heavenly
music (composed for the birthday of Queen Elizabeth
I).
The concert also included some
solos on the organ played by James Wharton and
Andrew Storer as well as individual and joint
choir items, including 'I was Glad' by Parry and
'Zadok the Priest' by Handel. Director of Music
was James Wharton.
7.30 pm, St Mary & St Giles Church,
Stony Stratford.
Entrance was by programme. Wine
and Fruit juice refreshments were available. We
raised about £3,300.00 at this sellout,

Summer Treasure Hunt
around Stony Stratford on a Sunday afternoon just
before the Summer holidays begin. An event for
all the family started and finished at St Mary
& St Giles Church and involved participants
finding clues around the town within a set period
of time. Tea, coffee and biscuits were available
in the church. Prize donated by John
Lewis PLC. This enjoyable event (despite the

Organ Recital by Jonathan Kingston
(Director of Music, Bromsgrove School). We welcomed
back our 2006/2007 organist and choirmaster Jonathan
Kingston (formerly of Stowe School, now of Bromsgrove
School). Jonathan's recital (attended by over
80 people) was preceded by Cream Teas in
the Church from 4.00 pm, which coincided with
Stony Stratford Town Fayre. The Cream Teas and
Retiring collection at the recital raised £1372.00
for the organ fund.

Ben
Westlake Clarinet Recital 2.30 pm. Ben
is a finalist in the woodwind section of the BBC
Young Musician of the Year Competition, and
he played his test pieces in this recital on his
clarinet. He was joined by his brother James on
the flute and Daniel King Smith accompanying on
the Baby Grand Piano in this concert. Free entry,
refreshments, retiring collection in aid of the
Grand Piano Fund raised £800 towards
the purchase of the instrument, £33.12 for
its tuning and maintenance, and £20 gift
aided for the Organ fund. There were 227 people
