St Mary & St Giles Parish Singers
Our Parish Singers
Apart from singing
for some services, our concerts are listed on this website
on the Events and Fundraising
pages.
The Parish Singers was
formed in 1978 to sing a Lenten Cantata in St. Mary
and St. Giles Church, Stony Stratford, during Holy Week
of that year.
Since then we have not
stopped singing! Although our primary function is to
enhance the worship in our parish church with psalms
and anthems on a regular basis, we also sing on Holy
Days and special occasions, for Choral Evensong and
for the festivals of Christmas and Easter.
Throughout the year
there are opportunities to sing with other local choirs
and to have other singers join us. In the autumn each
year we prepare a concert that joins together the musical
groups within our parish family. We take this opportunity
to learn some secular music also and to extend our repertoire.
We have been most fortunate
in having committed and enthusiastic singers, conductors
and accompanists over 30 years. We have an excellent
building in which to sing and the encouragement of many
to continue to do so.
We meet on Friday evenings
from 7:30 – 9:00 pm in the church. We usually
take a four week break in August.
