We were delighted to welcome the
Open University Choir and Quorum to St Mary & St
Giles Church for their Spring 2010 concert

The OU choir and Quorum
visited our church to take advantage of the favourable
acoustic and to help the Organ Fund. The content of
the concert also celebrated the history
of our Willis Organ, as music by William Bowie,
who was organist on the instrument when it was at St
George's Church, Charlotte Square, Edinburgh, was in
the programme.
The programme included
music by Bach, Blitheman, Bowie, Byrd, Britten, Croce,
Farrant, Gabrielli, Kuhnau, Schutz and Tallis
The choir made use of
the galleries to sing the 12 part Magnificat by Andrea
Gabrielli and Psalm 100 by Heinrich Schutz.
